Farmer Jason

Our library is incredible, and we visit often ever since Helen Claire got her card. On Tuesday of this week, we went to turn in some books and pick out new ones. Little did we know that Farmer Jason was going to be playing a show later that night.

The children's librarian let us know that it would be perfect for Helen Claire, so we decided to make a night of it.  We ate in the library cafe and then headed down to the theater for baby girl's first concert!!!

To say she enjoyed it would be an understatement.  I wish we would have had our camera with us, but since we didn't know about the show, we didn't pack the camera.  Helen Claire was a little shy at first, but we asked her if she wanted to go in front of the stage and dance with the other children.  She did, and she caught on very quickly.  She jumped up and down, waved her arms, clapped... the whole nine yards.  You can sort of see us in the very bottom right corner of this next picture.

Helen Claire was right beside the little blonde girl at the bottom left, but you can't see her.  She did not mind one bit that she was the smallest one.  She jumped just like a big girl.

During the last song, Farmer Jason let all the kids come up on stage with him to sing The Kitty song.  You have to "Jump so high" at the end, and Helen Claire LOVED it.  She talks about the "ump" song all the time now. You can't see her in the picture, because she is behind some kids on the edge of the stage, but she had such a good time. She was the last one off the stage, and Farmer Jason spoke to her as he was leaving.

We got to meet Farmer Jason after the show, and she did eventually go up to him and give him a hug.  She also decided to hug the kid waiting in line behind us and his dad.  We heard the dad say, "Oh, ok.  Group hug.  Cool."  Hillarious. We told Farmer Jason about planting peppers and watermelons and potatoes with Papa and Mimi, and  Farmer Jason signed our CD... "To Helen Claire:  Friends Always.  Love, Farmer Jason." He told her she had a beautiful name (two of his three daughters are double name girls), and we told him she was named after Granny.  Jonathan and I have learned a lot about Farmer Jason songs, since the CD has been on repeat in the car ever since we got it.

It was a cheesy kid concert, but it might have been our favorite concert to date.  Jonathan and I have talked a couple of times about how fun it was to watch her dance and sing and get shy in front of Farmer Jason.  Just seeing her expressions and watching her get excited was so much fun.
