Pumpkin Picking

October has been a crazy month around here. Jonathan has been preparing for the FE for a while, but it is at the end of the month, so October has been a blur of study sessions and books and calculations. I know he will be glad when this is all over.

We hardly realized that we had not taken Helen Claire to the pumpkin patch, but we were doing some yardwork, and it hit me that we had no pumpkins, mums, anything. We decided to opt out of the regular, crowded, overpriced pumpkin patches this year, and instead we went to the Homewood Garden Shop. Such a great idea! Helen Claire was the only child there, and the shop owner let her take her time and look over and inspect any pumpkins she wanted to touch. Jonathan taught her to "pat" the pumpkins to see if they were good ones, and she patted almost every pumpkin she saw like it was her job! If you are looking for good produce help, I know a little girl who's got nothing but time :)

They are a great local store, with sweet workers and owners. She didn't even charge us for the little tiny baby pumpkin Helen Claire picked up and death gripped the entire time we were there and in the car on the ride home.

If you are in the area, I highly recommend them. You can look at everything for free and buy a few things that you like.

We also stopped by Lowe's for a few things and let Helen Claire wander around there too.
