It has been a crazy couple of weeks. During week 45, we had wedding festivities to get to, so we missed our pig picture. Don't worry, we have plenty of pictures from the wedding and Easter, so we'll just use one of those instead :)
Helen Claire was such a trooper during the wedding week. She was flexible with her schedule (she didn't mind staying up late and being sociable one bit)! She was a good little flower girl and didn't cry or pitch a fit or anything. Thank you sweet girl for being such a good baby.
On Wednesday, she had her first Easter egg hunt. Thank you to her teachers for helping us organize such a cute event. The babies were precious!
This is in their room before the hunt started. Helen Claire and one of her friends, EF, were climbing all over one another. You would think one or both of them would be crying, but they loved it. (Since you can't see EF's face, I feel ok about posting these).
Vickie and Mother were here for the egg hunt, so Vickie helped me "hide" eggs. Once we were all done, we let the babies go. Helen Claire was ready!
Helen Claire is crawling all over now. Once she learned to crawl, she decided she liked it, and she can go anywhere she wants now. It is an issue when she is trying to go to sleep and starts crawling laps in her crib, but she put her skills to good use hunting eggs. She was so cute.
She was happy when she found an egg, and even happier when she found out they had cheerios and puffs inside.
Our egg hunting was over at that point, so we counted up our eggs and headed back to Room 5 for snack time.
She is really funny with her mouth and expressions lately. She learned to blow, and she does it all the time. She also has started doing this fake laugh (thanks to Jonathan), and she does it at inappropriate times, which makes us laugh and then she knows she is funny, so she will keep doing it.
This week, we have been in a hotel for most of the week becuase of the storms. If it was just the two of us, we would deal with no power, but that becomes an issue with a baby, so we've been having "sleep overs" this week.
The damage around our house was bad enough that we couldn't get down our road for a couple of days, and we lost power for about a week. Here are some pictures of one way down the road:
And this is the view down the other side of the road... basically, there were trees down all the way across the road on both sides, so we were wedged in the middle. Thankfully, we had no major damage and we were safe. For a lot of people, the damage was much, much worse.
Helen Claire has been off schedule, but we'll get back to it one day. Plus, we had her Parent/Teacher confrence on Tuesday, and it is about time to change her to the toddler room schedule anyway (I CANNOT believe this)!!! Her teachers said she was friendly, sociable and adaptable, which we were very happy to hear. They also said she was taking up for herself more. When other babies take her toys, they said she doesn't cry or scream. She just politely takes it back. Good girl. We need to work on crawling and drinking from a cup, along with a list of things everyone has to work on before moving to Room 6.
To get ready to move up in August, she has a list of goals that we are going to slowly start introducing:
Self-feed with a spoon (table foods)
Drink from a cup
Take one nap per day (12:30-2:30)
Limit passie to nap time/bed time only
Most of these we have already been working on (table foods, cup, passie), but the nap is freaking me out!!! She is a great baby when she is fed and well-rested. Without naps, she gets overly tired and isn't her normal self... I'm not sure how one nap a day is going to work, but we want to start getting her used to it now. We will also really miss the baby room, with cribs and our sweet teachers. It is a big adjustment, and I also have to realize she won't be in the youngest room anymore, which means she is growing up :( Please pray for us :)... no, seriously.
