41 Weeks

I love these next few shots... they are such Helen Claire kind of looks

It's like she's saying, "Mommy, why is this pig just sitting here... let's go somewhere."

Examining the piggie's eye... she does this to everything now... pointing out all the details DSC_0475

At 41 weeks, Helen Claire is doing all kinds of things... here are the hits from this past week:

  • She is talking more and more. Most of it sounds like Japanese, but she is so serious about it, and she wants you to answer her and acknowledge that she has told you something (she gets that from me... Jonathan reminds me of that about ten times a day). She can correctly identify Mama and Dada and she can say Hey. She says something for Jordan or Dog, but I'm not sure what exactly it is just yet.

  • Speaking of Jordan, Helen Claire is obsessed with the dog. Poor baby, I feel sorry for her because the dog ignores her, but Helen Claire gets so excited when Jordan runs or barks or just sits anywhere near her.

  • She still does not "crawl," but she has learned a new trick this week and has been scooting backwards. I know they work with her at school, and we practice at home, but it's just not her thing right now. She is so funny about it, too. If she's done, she will lay her head down on the floor or bang on the floor- she has no trouble communicating when she's ready to be up. I took this little video ,but don't report me to DHR for letting her fuss a little.

  • She has been working on standing more and will "stand" and play with her music table. She cannot pull herself up on her own yet, but she is really trying, especially in the bath tub, which is giving me heart problems and grey hair :)

  • She is hanging on to her Size 3 Diapers and has no reason to move up just yet.

  • She is still in 6-9 month clothes, but I think she will be bringing back her 9 month and 9-12 months soon. She is growing, which is a really good sign.

  • She HATES her changing table now. When she was tiny, she loved it. She was up high and she could see everything. It would always calm her down. Now, it's boring and she is ready to get up. She locks her legs and goes limp if we try to put her down... not fun.

  • She still LOVES her bath. She plays with her toys, and her favorites are her foam letters and numbers. She tries her very best to stick them to the side of the tub, but Mommy still has to help... her arms aren't quite long enough yet.

  • Her eyes are staying gray blue, and they sometimes have flecks of brown or green in them.

  • Her girly side is showing up more and more lately. If we go shopping, she finds the bows, hats, and glittery things in the store.

  • Speaking of finding things in stores, we went to Publix Friday night after going on a Family Date night to Zoes, which was so fun... Helen Claire ate a turkey and cheese sandwhich and some fruit and some chicken soup. She was such a social butterflly and we had the best time. Anyway, back to Publix. I wanted to get her a sectioned plate since she eats lots of different little pick-up foods. That way, she could have kind of a treasure tin, but on the cheap. We found a pink tray, and she held it through the entire shopping trip. The cashier had to ring it up in the carseat as HC held on for dear life. She held it on the way home, and actually fell asleep in her carseat with her new pink tray covering her face. Both hands were still hanging on! Here are a few shots of her enjoying her big girl plate.

She loves to try and feed you and share her food She has been really funny at meal times... she has a bib with a pocket that collects any dropped food. She realized it was there and would purposely put food in it and eat out of the pocket.

  • We have a sleeping update. For the past two weeks, HC has consistently slept all the way throught the night. She has done this before, but sicknesss, travel, etc. have thrown her off. She seems to have it down to an artform now. She gets her bath, bedtime milk, a story, her taggie and then we turn on her sleep sheep and she's asleep in a few minutes. I took a taggie to school, and she is falling asleep independently there now too.

That's about it for this week. See you next Thursday!
