Helen Claire Weekly

Helen Claire is 12 weeks old-AHHHHH!!!!!!! Where did it all go? Seriously, people, that is 3 months! There is no way my tiny newborn is a 3 month old.

Here are some things our baby can do now:

She is really practing holding up her head, and she is getting better and better at it. She is stretching and exercising more, with more play time on the floor and on her playmat. She constantly acts like she's ready to get up and go. She gets one little leg going and moves her arms around. She loves to look around and will move her head side to side, just taking it all in.

We get lots of smiles, laughs, coos, talking and singing now. We can sing to her, and she will make noises back, and when we talk to her, she acts just like she knows what we are saying.

She is grasping at her rattle and toys better now, too- that's been one of the things on her lesson plan at school this week. Here is a little video with her holding on to her teething ring for the first time.

Car riding is still going well. She loves her mirror in the car and looks at herself and talks to herself the whole ride to school. She usually naps on the way home from school. We say our morning prayers together in the car, and she sometimes talks to Jesus too (I'm sure He knows what she's saying :).

She is adjusting well to school and is taking all of her bottles now, instead of just a few ounces. She is napping well, but her teachers still have to hold her. It is our homework to get her to sleep in her bed for naps and fall asleep on her own, without having to be rocked. I know it will be worth it when we can put her down and she will sleep anywhere, but right now it is hard. She doesn't fuss that much, but when I haven't seen her all day long, I really want to hold her. We are working on it, though.

Her ears are much better and so is the congestion/cold. I'm glad we are almost done with the amoxicillin, because those diapers have been no joke!!! Poor baby's tummy does not like that stuff.

She still loves her bath, and we give her one every night, whether she needs it or not because it calms her down and helps her sleep longer. She is doing great with sleep, in my opinion. I feed her about 6, put her night gown on her and put her down. Then she eats again between 9-9:30 and that's it. She sometimes wakes up once in the middle of the night for the feeding, but other times she sleeps right on until 5:30 or 6 in the morning. That's wonderful, in my book, so you won't hear any complaints from me!

Her eyes seem even more blue now, but they are a very dark, almost violet kind of blue. They look hollowed out in pictures because they are so dark, but in person, they are a really pretty steel blue.

That's about it for now. More next week...
