was perfect . It was definitely one of the sweetest moments, and we got to hear that the baby was right where it should be for 7 weeks.
After seeing the heartbeat, Christy took some pictures for us. We got to see where the baby was, what the baby looked like, and I thought it looked like a little pea- it was so tiny and really looked nothing like a baby. Jonathan said it looked more like a peanut, but the name Sweetpea sort of stuck, so that is what we have been calling baby Lucas.
We met with our doctor after the ultrasound, and he really just wanted to talk to us about what to expect, book recommendations, what not to eat/what to eat, and answer any questions we had. He also gave us our due date, which is June 9. We really like him- he is very approachable and laid back- he doesn't want new parents to worry unless there is something to worry about. He even told us that the most important thing we could do right now was let the baby grow and go out on dates, since that won't be happening much after June 9!
On our second visit, which was November 19, we got to have another ultrasound. I really like that about our doctor's office- you get to have ultrasounds more regularly than at some of the other offices. The ultrasound on the second visit was so much different than the first! Sweetpea had grown so much and actually looked more like a baby. The most fun things happened in this ultrasound, too. We had our sweet tech, Christy again, and she wanted us to see the baby's face, but Sweetpea was stretched out, with feet at one end and head at the other, and had its hands over its face. Christy asked me to cough really hard to get the baby to move, and as soon as I did, Sweetpea waved its hands in front of its face and turned toward the camera. Christy was able to get a really good profile picture after that. The baby also had hiccups during the ultrasound, so every few seconds, we would see it bounce up. Jonathan and I didn't know what that was, so we asked Christy, and she told us it was hiccups. It was so amazing to see that at only 11 weeks.
We were so excited after the first two doctor's visit and really cannot explain how blessed we feel that the baby is healthy and growing exactly how it's supposed to! For now, we appreciate your prayers for Baby Sweetpea...we go back to the doctor next Thursday, so hopefully, we will have more pictures soon.
Here is a picture from the first ultrasound... .
